Ensenada & Starbucks

well here we are, it's Thursday almost 12pm, I'm sitting in my new favorite place in my favorite city, Starbucks in Ensenada. My truck is having the brakes fixed so i am here for a while enjoying free tiny cups of coffee drinks (they already gave me 3, one toffee nut and 2 mochas, and a tiny piece of pastry, if I stay here long enough I won't have to go to lunch)). The other picture is a guy painting right above where they give you the drinks, whats a little latex green flavored paint in my coffee? I love Mexico. Anyhow, that's what I am doing right now. Not very exciting, but nice and quiet. I'll get back to you if anything happens, right now I gotta go update Sammy's blog, check it out: www.sammysrancho.blogspot.com
Also if you're bored check out the awesome Ranch blog, lots of latest news and photos
See ya.

December 7th from La Quinta

OK, so my son Lucas and I are driving from the Ranch to La Quinta (The town not the hotel), it's by Palm Springs, anyway we're hungry so around the Salton sea I turn in towards the sea hoping to find a fish place, no fish place but a lot of mobile homes, near the end of the road we happen upon this:... (oops, I left the camera in the car, right now I am in a friends house, it's a big house and if I try to get the camera, I might not find my room again, tomorrow I will post what we found). (You can click on the photos for a bigger view).

December 2nd @ the San jose Airport

So where have I been, no blog since November 21st, I'VE BEEN BUSY OK!!!

Right now I'm sitting in the San Jose Airport with my son Joshua waiting for our flight to SD then we drive home. I spoke at a church this morning and now sitting here trying hard to muster up energy to write something...You know what. I don't feel like writing my blog right now. I'm going to the bathroom, then gonner wander around the airport aimlessly till it's time to board. I'll write and post pictures of what i did while here later. Also this Christmas music piping out all over the airport is really, really annoying, I'm taking my hearing aid off. See ya.

OK (8 days later), so here is what we did on our way to Antioch (By Oakland).

Visited my brother's grave site. He was killed in an auto accident near San Francisco. He was a Marine.

He didn't die in Vietnam, I guess they had extra markers left over.

Then we were off to the colorful city of SF and Haight street.

My other job.

Yesterdays parade

My son Sammy was in the local parade yesterday, for more pictures and story please see his blog at http://www.sammysrancho.blogspot.com/

As each year it is a unique event with most of the local schools participating, the police department, some horses, many dogs and the town drunks bringing up the rear.

I don't have too much to post, because Sammy beat me to the story, so go to his link and see what the hoopala was about. I hope to be back with something relevant or insightful soon. See ya.

helicopters, dead people, morgues and the cartel.

On November 12th the famed Baja 1000 started in Ensenada (Google Baja 1000 for info). As always there are many helicopters there for this event. During the race one such helicopter failed to see high tension electric lines and hit them. The copter went down. As the news spread it was first heard that the copter was a Evac copter on it’s way to an accident, then it was a SCORE helicopter, finally the truth, it was a rented helicopter from Ensenada with 2 guys from Tijuana watching the race (a side note, we were going to rent this helicopter for some filming of Hearing Everett, too late now). The 2 guys died, the pilot and co-pilot survived but messed up. The dead guys are taken to a morgue in Ensenada. That night about 6-12 vehicles arrive at the morgue, masked men with high caliber rifles bust into the place, snatch one of the dead bodies and kidnap two forensic personnel and go blazing out of Ensenada shooting anything that gets in their way, by the time the authorities figure what happened, these guys are on their way out of town and heading towards Guadalupe (Where I live). By now the Highway patrol, the State police, the municipal cops, Judiciales and army are chasing these guys. They radio ahead to the Guadalupe police force (all 4 of them) and tell them to stop the kidnappers. So at the small police command center next to the road (1 kilometer from our Ranch) these poor cops try to stop a caravan of 12 vehicles each with like 6 guys and all with serious weapons, against 2 cops with handguns and maybe a rifle or two. It did not end well, As the cops were answering the call they were not informed who was coming or what was happening, just told to "stop some vehicles heading your way". So in an attempt to stop the cars two cops were killed and the caravan didn’t even slow down and amazing enough all the vehicles and bad guys disappeared between Guadalupe and Tecate.

Wow, What is up with that? It is alleged that the dead guy snatch was one of the leaders of the Tijuana drug cartel (ya think!). Why was he so important even though he was dead? Two possible answers, one They wanted to get him before the authorities really figured out who he was, the other reason, these guys always get their dead.

This story continues to unfold as yesterday November 21st, the helicopter pilot was removed from the hospital under heavy military and police guard whisked to a waiting jet and flown to Mexico city. I feel sorry for the pilot because obviously he did know know who he was flying around. the guy gave him a fake name and paid cash. That would be like me picking up a hitch hiker (which I never do), then going off one of the many curves around here, the hitch hiker gets killed, I survive messed up, but it turns out the dead guy is a wanted fugitive, next thing you know, I'm on a plane to Mexico city under arrest. remember in Mexico you are GUILTY till proven innocent. It kinda sucks.

What am I doing?

I am sitting in the Sacramento airport waiting for my late flight. i was inspired by a friend of mine who will remain namesless to creat this blog. I travel a lot and in general all kinds of stuff tends to happen to me or around me. this blog will be an attempt to keep track of those happenings. So what am i doing here? This morning I spoke at a church in Magalia which is about 2 hours north of Sacramento. Later today I had dinner with my buddy Tim and his family at PF Changs, gotta love Changs and their lettuces wraps (the Chinese version of tacos). Anyhoo, here I am waiting for my plane. Also i will post my rants, musings and activites of my live as they transpire. Maybe a diary or journal.
Before I go on, a disclaimer: My English grammar sucks, I only went to school up to 4th grade in The U.S., the rest in Mexico, so don't give me any crap about my misspelling or grammar. Second this is meant to entertain and keep you busy while waiting for something important to happen in your life, like the popcorn finishing popping or any other momentous event in your life. So be entertained, not offended, not peeved, maybe perplexed as you read on.
So right now I'm hanging out, contemplating turning this blog off and watching Boston Legal on my laptop.
